Hunter trials are run during the late winter and early spring to coincide with the hunting season drawing to an end. Originally established to test hunting horses and settle arguments as to who had the best hunter!
Hunter trials today are run over cross country style fences which horses and ponies must navigate as part of a pre-determined course. Each competitor must complete the round clear in either the fastest time or optimum time. Young/small riders are rarely timed.
Additional information about hunter trials, rules & regulations and dress & tack codes are available on the Irish Pony Club Website.
The Killinick Harriers hold their annual Hunter Trials by kind permission of The O’Connor Family at Forth Mountain Stud. As always hunter trials require an army of volunteers to run, Killinick Harriers would like to extend a huge thank-you to all who make it possible and we hope to rely on your support in the future.
Please visit the Irish Pony Club Website for full details of the upcoming Hunter Trials and The 2017 Hunter Trial Championships.
